Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I need therapy?
You don’t need to be in crisis to seek therapy. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally exhausted, or even just curious about understanding yourself better, therapy may support you. Many people come to therapy to work on stress, life transitions, relationships, identity, or personal growth, not just mental illness.
What is individual therapy, and how can it help me?
Individual therapy is a private one-on-one conversation with a trained mental health professional. It offers a safe and confidential space to explore what you’re going through, develop healthier coping strategies, and gain clarity about your life. Therapy is not about “fixing” you, but helping you reconnect with your own strengths.
Is therapy only for people with serious mental illness?
Not at all. Therapy is for anyone who wants support, whether you are dealing with anxiety, work stress, grief, identity struggles, or simply feeling lost or disconnected. While we do work with people who have clinical conditions, many clients come for non-diagnostic concerns.
I’ve never done therapy before. What should I expect in my first session?
Your first session is a diagnostic intake, where your therapist will ask about your background, concerns, and goals. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions. There is no pressure to share everything right away, therapy is a process, and we move at your pace.
What issues or types of clients do you work with?
We support clients with a wide range of concerns, including:
Stress, anxiety, and burnout
Depression and mood-related issues
Grief, loss, and trauma
Relationship and family difficulties
Identity, gender, and sexuality-related concerns
Self-esteem and emotional regulation
Life transitions, workplace struggles, or adjustment issues
Who may not be suitable for online therapy?
Online therapy may not be the best option if:
You are experiencing active suicidal thoughts or are in a crisis
You have unstable internet or limited privacy at home
You are dealing with severe mental illness requiring medical supervision
If you’re unsure, reach out, and we’ll help you assess what’s safest for you.
Is therapy inclusive and sensitive to religion, culture, and LGBTQ+ identities?
Yes. We are committed to offering therapy that is respectful, inclusive, and affirming. Our therapists are mindful of Malaysia’s diverse religious and cultural landscape. We also welcome LGBTQ+ clients and understand the unique challenges faced around identity, family, and belonging. Your story will be received with care and without judgment.
How often should I attend therapy?
This depends on your goals and situation. Most clients start with weekly or biweekly sessions. Some choose to come less often after progress is made, while others return for “check-ins” during challenging times. Your therapist will collaborate with you to find a rhythm that fits your needs.
What if I don’t feel comfortable with my therapist?
That’s okay. A good fit matters. If something doesn’t feel right, we encourage you to bring it up in session. Sometimes talking about the discomfort helps. But if needed, we will support you in finding another therapist; your well-being is our priority.
What should I prepare for my first online session?
A quiet and private space with a stable internet connection
A pair of earphones or a headset, if possible
A notebook (optional) for your reflections
Openness, even if you’re nervous, that’s completely normal
We’ll send you a consent form and basic questionnaire beforehand to help us understand your needs.
How do I pay for sessions?
Payment can be made via bank transfer within 24 hours after your session is confirmed. Instructions will be provided upon booking. Currently, we accept:
Online bank transfers (FPX)
DuitNow or QR code payment (on request)
All sessions must be paid 24 hours in advance after session confirmation to secure your slot.
